Marching Band

People think that kids that are in band are just geeks, they are usually refered to as band geeks. Let me just start by telling you that I am one of those band geeks. It is one of the most hardest things that I have ever had to do thus far in my life. Its not all just about the music, its about the experience that you get from it. I can bet that half the people in that make fun of these people have no idea what it takes to be in a marching band.
It takes dedication and I mean alot of it. Starting in July the next 6 months of your life is band. Practices on Monday, tuesdays, and thursaday's, then football games on Friday nights, practice at 8 am on saturday mornings, then finally what you have been practicing for all this time the perfomance at a competition. This is where you give all your energy for at least 15 mins. total!
Picture this, picture it about 8:30pm on a cool saturday evening and you are on the inzone of the football field. The massive light sparkling off your sash on the uniform and 5,000 people staring at you. As you come up that field the crowd starts cheering and screaming GO APOLLO EAGLES!!!!! That is when it hits you, these people are here to see me and my craft. You set up in the opening set, you hear, ONE, TWO, THREE, FOUR, BOOM!! You have just started your 7 min. show. The crowd is screaming right after the opening statment.
You are almost done keep the energy going the crowd is watching you vigoursly and hoping that ypu don't mess up! It is the last 5 seconds of the show the crowd is on their feet screaming, the band director is running to the inzone ready to meet you after, your field commander has a huge smile on his face and is giving it everything that he has left. Then another boom! You have just finished your show and you are tired and feel like you could pass out at any second because you are so out of breath.
The command comes Mark time Mark, and your officially done. Its over until the next week. You hear that you come in first, thats when I realize that wow I can actually do this, this amazing to know that I just perfomed in front of all those people and the judges loved it! I all my hard work has paid off. And to know that all those people that make fun of band geeks wouldn't even have the GUTS to get out there and actually try it.
So with that being said band geeks have alot more guts to do something scary than half the population in the world. They are also said to be some of the smartest people also because they have to mutlitask. So stop making fun of band kids and how about you support them unless you can actually do this SPORT!!!!!
